Norwich City Council call off the fireworks on safety grounds at the annual Christmas lights ceremony this year.
Traditionally the popular festive event culminates in an explosion of fireworks from the top of City Hall, but the predicted high winds has put an end to that.
The decision follows concerns raised by the display company about the predicted weather conditions and the potential safety risk.
Don’t worry after the switch-on, people will still be able to soak up the Christmas atmosphere. A rock gospel band will perform, and carols, mince pies and mulled wine will be on offer.
