Sky Lanterns Safety

May 23rd, 2009

Use Authentic Thai lanterns as opposed to the Chinese Lanterns. The difference is the Thai ones fly better and our safer to use. Chinese Lanterns are normally mass produced and have the fuel cell already attached to them. The problem is as the fuel liquefies it simply drops off. Thai Lanterns are handmade and have a separate fuel cell that you attach with wire. This does not fall off in flight and are therefore safer to use. Sky Lanterns can be used as silent alternative to fireworks. Soon we will do a feature on water lanterns.
Don’t forget when you buy any fireworks from the Monster website you automatically get a pack of 5 Sky Lanterns.

Beach Fireworks

May 18th, 2009

If you’re heading for the beach this bank holiday don’t forget your fireworks. There’s nothing better than a great beach bar-b-q followed by some high level entertainment.

This is by no means nothing new but is becoming ever more popular with people that just want to make the most of the bank holiday. Beaches offer plenty of room and at night there are not many people around. You can create an effective small display by using just one or two single ignitions.

Top tips:

Get rid of the outer card board packaging and pop them in to strong plastic bags.

It’s a good idea to make sure you know were the fuses are before you get there. So there’s no faffing on site.

Once you are at the beach the fireworks are protected and can remain in the bags through out.

Find a safe spot about 25m from the waters edge where its damp not wet. Dig in to the sand or pebbles so its solid. Slide the plastic down so it has just the top of the firework showing and its not restricted from firing.

Once in position remember to check for people, dogs, and anything that’s too close.

It’s a good idea to use portfires or similar on beaches because of the obvious conditions. Once your all clear….let them go!

After you can kick them over and drag them into the water and dose them.

Pull the bags back up and take home with you. Proper!

Guy Fawkes

May 15th, 2009

Born: 13 April 1570, Stonegate, Yorkshire
He was a tall, powerfully built man, with thick reddish-brown hair, flowing moustache, and a bushy reddish-brown beard.
In May of 1604, Guy Fawkes met with Robert Catesby, Thomas Percy, John Wright and Thomas Wintour at an inn called the Duck and Drake in the fashionable Strand district of London and agreed under oath along with Percy to join the other three in the gunpowder conspiracy
1605, the conspirators hired a cellar beneath Parliament. Fawkes assisted in filling the room with barrels of powder, hidden beneath iron bars.
On Sunday 3 November, a few of the leading conspirators met in London and agreed that the authorities were still unaware of their actions.
On the 5th of November, the king and his leaders were about to meet. So, Guy Fawkes men placed barrels of gunpowder in one of the cellars beneath the building where the king was having meeting
Guy Fawkes was to light the fuse that would set off the explosion. But the plot was discovered before he had a chance to do this. The king was saved, and Guy Fawkes was hanged.

Ironman or Ironpyro?

May 13th, 2009

A competition setup by Hong kong’s Shogun fireworks to promote and encourage creativity and artistry in Firework Design and Choreography. The contestants have been already chosen so it’s a bit late for this year. 3 people from all different backgrounds (not all professional) get to chose and create their own display. The winner gets FREE world travel tickets or $1000, bonus!

On August 11th 2009 at the US Pyrotechnics Guild International Convention the 3 contestants will show their stuff and fight it out for the prize. They all start with the same ingredients (rockets, candles etc.) so it’s really down to their individual skill. We will keep you posted.

This year there will be a lot of new entries strutting their stuff. Thousands turn up every year to watch the competition and line Plymouth harbour side to watch this epic event.

Monster was Allstars

May 5th, 2009

Sorry for the confusion Monster Fireworks is now the new name for Allstars Fireworks and Bristol Fireworks. Allstars was the retail side and Bristol was the display team. We changed our business name to Monster Fireworks to stop customers getting confused with other firework companies. We use just one name now Monster Fireworks for both retail and display fireworks. We have simply just changed our name and are our shop is still on Gloucester Road.

Online at Yell.com we come up as Monster but in the actual Yellow pages we are still Allstars. When the new edition of Yellow pages becomes available we will be under are new name Monster Fireworks.

Google – Ifireworks or Ioccasions are strictly nothing to do with us. From what we can gather they are based in London and do not operate a shop on Gloucester Road.

Bank Holiday Fireworks

May 4th, 2009

Yet another successful show with an amazing climatic finale. 150 feet in the air dramatic bursts of colour filled the sky while thunderous echo’s could be heard miles away. This was bank holiday evening to remember with a huge audience there was plenty of excitement. 10 minutes of pure of none stop action lighting up the sky for another mouth dropping performance. Carefully planned and with great team effort they delivered a truly exceptional display. Shells, mortars, fountains were co-ordinated with such precision you could clearly see the shapes made by the fireworks. This year was much better the last by miles.

Absolute Fireworks Trade Night

May 1st, 2009

Absolute Fireworks this week ran trade nights in both the Midlands and in the London area. Monster visited the Midlands event which was well organised and a lot of fun. The retail product range had some new additions Sky Lanterns we of course in there, some rebranding on their Barrage boxes, and the real knockout was the Super Brocade. Also the SFX and High Flyer rockets were outstanding although the High flyers don’t make it in to this year’s product range. The most exciting thing was the uncovering of Absolutes Professional Category 4. Product range which was great to check out. We will posting some video footage and images on the trade night latter.
